HeartGenetics launches new test in Oncology – OncoAlvo®

HeartGenetics continues to increase its portfolio of genetic tests, particularly within the pharmacogenetics area. OncoAlvo® is a new genetic study of the anti-EGFR antibody therapy response in metastatic colorectal carcinoma. With this new test, medical oncologists will be able to know what is the best and most effective treatment for each patient.
90% to 80% of patients with colorectal cancer do not respond well to therapy directed to EGFR receptors, being resistant to this therapy mainly due to the presence of mutations in the RAS genes.
OncoAlvo® evaluates more than 170 genetic mutations, including those recommended by the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the NICE Medical Guidelines (UK). OncoAlvo® evaluates the KRAS, NRAS, BRAF, EGFR, ERBB2, and PIK3CA genes.
OncoAlvo® genetic panel was developed in a join collaboration with the IPO-Porto and is scientifically validated and proven to its clinical utility with more than 500 patients.
The genetic study is performed through the analysis of single directed mutations with an accuracy of 99% through the innovative iPLEX MassARRAY® system.

Lançamento de um novo teste genético – o teste OncoAlvo®
A HeartGenetics continua a aumentar o portfólio de testes genéticos, nomeadamente dentro de área da farmacogenética. O novo teste designado de OncoAlvo® permitirá a realização de um estudo genético para avaliação da resposta personalizada à terapia por anticorpos anti-EGFR em carcinoma colorectal metastático. Com este novo teste, médicos oncologistas poderão saber qual o melhor e o mais eficaz tratamento para cada paciente.
Actualmente cerca de 90% a 80% dos pacientes com cancro colorectal não respondem bem à terapia direcionada aos receptores EGFR, sendo resistentes a esta terapia maioritariamente devido à presença de mutações nos genes RAS.
O novo teste OncoAlvo® vai permitir realizar em simultâneo a avaliação de mais de 170 mutações genéticas, incluindo as recomendadas pela ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology), ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) e as NICE Medical Guidelines (UK). Entre os genes avaliados incluem-se os genes KRAS, NRAS, BRAF, EGFR, ERBB2, e PIK3CA.
Este painel genético,desenvolvido em parceria com o IPO-Porto, está validado cientificamente e viu comprovada a sua utilidade clínica através da análise de mais de 500 amostras biológicas.
O estudo genético é efectuado através da análise de mutações únicas direcionadas utilizando a tecnologia iPLEX MassARRAY®, apresentando uma precisão superior a 99%.
