Our team has three more members to assist the development of our computational models for clinical data analysis and processing. To know more, read below the bios of the new HeartGenetics software engineers.
Miguel Fernandes participated and was responsible for critical IT projects, mainly in the financial sector, and across the development cycle: requirements analysis, application design, development and testing.
Technical background involves several platforms and languages, and applications such as information systems or code optimization.
He also has presales experience (IT products and services): strategy, planning, presentations, proposals and customer management.
Rafael Schimassek has a computer science background from Instituto Superior Técnico. Prior to HeartGenetics, Rafael has worked in web development and in maintenance of computer networks.
Rafael has been awarded several awards related with computer science, namely two times 1st place in the National Olympics of Informatics, two times 1st place in Inter-University Programming Marathon (as a team), 2nd place in South West European Regional Competition, and 3rd place at Iberoamerican Informatics Competition.
Élson Tomás has Masters degree in Mathematics and Applications (Logic and Computation) by Instituto Superior Técnico, specializing in machine learning and data analysis. He worked in a research group where developed a tool for unsupervised classification, applying the Expectation-Maximization algorithm on pharmacokinetics data.
During his graduation, he developed projects in databases and big data: supervised and unsupervised classification with decision trees, expectation-maximization algorithm, support vector machine, neural networks, approximation and hierarchical algorithms, data analysis and principal components analysis.
